Play ball!

Playing catch with Dad… skipping rocks across the lake… making silly faces… THAT’s my idea of a fun portrait session! (I told you, J, that this wouldn’t be ANNNNNYthing like school portrait day!) Here is a sneak peek of my ultra-fun session with J and his dad.

“Belle maman et bébé”

What a sweet way to end the year. This was 2006’s last session… a sweet newborn… just in time for Christmas!

I was thrilled when I walked into the client’s Midtown loft and thought I was stepping into a Parisian antique shop. Everywhere I turned there were fabulous furniture pieces, gilt frames with portraits of the client’s grandmother as a young woman in the 40’s and vintage of, and little flourishes of style everywhere you turned. I asked if I could move furniture around, take down draperies, and create a vision I had in my head, and thankfully the client let me run with my vision… this is one of the shots that resulted. I can imagine this on canvas in a gold gilt frame displayed right alongside her other works of art.

More curls… and a holiday update

Yes, it’s another little curly-top… have I mentioned I love curls??! Must be because I’ve had straight hair my whole life (except during my spiral perm craze during the early 90’s… heh heh). I photographed this little cutie on our studio property several weeks ago (yes, we are behind schedule on proofing).

Which brings me to an update for everyone anxiously awaiting their proofs… our busy season this year has been about 10x busier than last year (THANK YOU, all of you, for spreading the word about Julia Greer Photography!). We are burning the midnight oil to get your proofs completed, including holiday cards, which are our top priority right now. Please bear with us just a bit longer while we make your portraits and cards something magical!!img_2210.jpg

Little Curly-top

This little moppet reminds me of Shirley Temple with her curls and dimpled charm. This was a maternity session, but how could anyone resist portraits of this cutie!

I did mention this was a maternity session, didn’t I? LOL Mom was just radiant and had the perfect round belly that we photographers love!

She’s not a spitfire or anything, hm? :D LOVE little Miss M’s personality!

One more outtake that just makes me smile when I see it… We decided to break out the bubbles for the last few minutes of the session, and I captured the most priceless look on M’s face as she a big one floated right before her eyes.img_13221.jpg

Stunning maternity

LOVED this couple! So many great images from this session… will share more soon… for now here is one straight off the card.

Those baby blue eyes

Meet little baby S. He was all smiles… a total charmer. Just look at those gorgeous baby blues and that head of blond hair!

At the lake with two cuties

Sweet little girl… protective big brother. Is there anything sweeter?! We spent TWO hours playing at Acworth Beach… Daddy even stopped by midway through. (Could that explain why one of my never-fail giggle-inducing tricks didn’t work? Me: “Say ‘Daddy has stinky feet!’” Pause. Then a shy little, “I can’t say that.” You can’t argue with THAT!)

Into the Forest

Just one so far from this morning’s session. I’m enchanted by this capture because it reminds me of all that I love about childhood adventure… a little girl skipping fearlessly into the forest, following an intriguing path toward a sparkling lake ahead, with a glance backward that seems to say “Follow me!”

I love when they ham it up…

This session was initially for mom, since she needed portraits for her business materials. But I was excited to meet her two-and-a-half-year-old cutie, who is so polite and just a doll, and asked to photograph her as well. She was a blast! She turned on the charm as soon as the camera was aimed in her direction… as much as I love when kids ignore the camera and aren’t self-conscious, I have to admit I get a kick out of kids who totally ham it up.

You can see where this cutie gets her looks from… mom is a beauty too:

Sisters

Such sweet girls… for more mature and FAR cuter than I was at 12 and 14! The younger girl made such an impression on me. Her sister was having a rough time at first… was not really into having portraits made. This 12-year-old was so calm, so poised, and we sailed through the first part of the session as though she were a seasoned professional model. In the end all three of us ended up having a blast… I’ll post some of the trampoline outtakes tomorrow. :D

I love this family!

The cool thing about my job is that I get to meet some incredible people. This family is one of the most fun I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. (Of course, it didn’t hurt that they are all drop-dead gorgeous!) Normally I have to sweet-talk mom and dad out of their shoes (”I promise, bare feet will be so much more appealing than those 12-year-old muddy sneakers!”). Not this family! Mom and Dad both insisted they WANT to be captured the way they really are — and that means barefoot, goofing around on the playset, hugging and cuddling each other, and just being the way I love families to be.
